Writing is my passion, nursing is my profession, and I am so fortunate to have combined the two into a dream career.

I’ve thought of myself as a writer since I won a young authors contest in the first grade with a story about being lost in the woods. I proceeded to wander in the metaphorical forest of healthcare as a nurse, gaining skills along the way, until I returned to my original love of writing with a fresh perspective.

In addition to my day job, I am a community columnist for my local paper, hosted and produced a year-long podcast on the topic of young adult cancer that was featured on NPR, and saw two of my poems published in a magazine.

When I’m not writing, you can find me in the kitchen baking something chocolatey or reading on the shores of nearby Lake Michigan with my husband, daughter, and rescue mutt.
