About Me

I’m Kayla Crum, RN BSN, and I’m passionate about the power of words. I believe they can equip, educate, and even heal. My years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient health care settings make me uniquely suited to take complex medical information and break it down into digestible facts for the average consumer.

I also happen to be the sister of a young adult cancer survivor, which informs my writing approach. I know firsthand what it is like to receive dizzying news about a close family member and turn to the Internet for explanation and assistance. It is key that families like mine have trusted sources in those moments.

When I’m not writing health care articles, you may find me reading on the shores of nearby Lake Michigan, playing with my dog, writing for my local paper, or hosting my young adult cancer-focused podcast with my sister.
